It is such a privilege to work at the BA along with the many spiritually minded individuals that support this organization. It is an unusual and challenging time and yet every day I see more joy, kindness, creativity, and resilience expressed across the campus. And there is such gratitude and support from our Field. Our hearts have been touched by the donations, gifts, and loving notes that arrive at the BA. We are so blessed.

5 things you need to know about the BA in September

Our active Christian Science nursing services. We are grateful that we continue to be able to admit patients at the BA and to respond to calls for the Visiting Service while staying in compliance with guidelines and restrictions for Brookline and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

CSNAIII course – (Advanced Christian Science Nursing Arts) started on September 1st. For five weeks Christian Science nurses from California, Missouri, and New Jersey (along with those from the BA) will call the BA home while they participate in the classroom portion of this course. With social guidance and ongoing restrictions in place for Massachusetts, we have needed to be creative and flexible as we set up classroom space. With desks 6 feet apart, we are using the Living Room (below the Chapel) in the Original Building for classroom sessions.

#HALFMYDAF   – Through these challenging times, it is rewarding to see the increase in charity and giving back, especially for nonprofits. And this is a time when nonprofits especially can use the added support. The #HALFMYDAF movement caught our attention because over $120 billion is sitting in Donor Advised Funds* and community foundations. A *Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a simple, flexible and tax-efficient way to give to your favorite charities. A DAF is like a charitable investment account for the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations you care about. These accounts may be held at an investment firm like Fidelity Charitable or a community foundation.

Restoring the portrait of Mrs. EddySo many BA Friends have been checking in on the progress of the restoration of Mrs. Eddy’s portrait that hung in the Reception Room at the BA for many years. The latest update is that the canvas has been cleaned and next week the portrait goes to the framer. And it should be ready to hang in October. We welcome your gifts to finish this wonderful project.

CSNA Graduation is virtual in 2020 – We will be celebrating online this year rather than meeting together in the Chapel for Graduation. Current guidelines do not allow us to gather in one place for our traditional Christian Science Nursing Arts graduation. We will be online with all the graduates and our keynote speaker in November. We will be announcing the exact date in the coming weeks.
