Next year marks a 100-year milestone since the BA first opened its doors in 1919. In recognition of the loving and devoted work of Christian Science practitioners and Christian Science nurses over the years, we have been sharing a few of the many healing testimonies shared by those who have been blessed by this refuge. “Some time ago the entire left side of my body became paralyzed. I asked my wife: “What is this? Why should this happen to me?” Her answer was: “Don’t waste time asking the why of error. Just declare the truth and work to know more of God and of your relationship to Him.” I realized then that I must turn to the source of all good, which is God.”

In the more than twenty years that I have been studying Christian Science, I have had many healings. Now I want to acknowledge my thanks to Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, for giving to the world “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.” This textbook of Christian Science is so simple that it can be understood readily and its teachings applied to heal any situation, physical, financial, moral, or mental.
Some time ago the entire left side of my body became paralyzed. I asked my wife: “What is this? Why should this happen to me?” Her answer was: “Don’t waste time asking the why of error. Just declare the truth and work to know more of God and of your relationship to Him.” I realized then that I must turn to the source of all good, which is God.
While we stayed at the Sanatorium of the Christian Science Benevolent Association in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, there were many days when I studied the Bible and Mrs. Eddy’s writings constantly, taking time out only for sleep and nourishment. The nurses at the Sanatorium were splendid. They not only cared for my physical needs, but often sat at my bedside and read to me with such understanding that the citations seemed to have been written just for me. When I left the Sanatorium I was able to resume my work and soon was entirely free.
To say that I am grateful to Mrs. Eddy for giving us a religion that puts us as close to God as thought itself, is to express my gratitude in its mildest form. I am also grateful to my dear wife for standing by me so steadfastly, to the Benevolent Association and the entire staff of associates for its ministrations of love, and to my teacher, who gave unstintingly of her time and understanding to bring about this healing. Most of all, I am grateful to God, the Giver of all good, who through Mrs. Eddy gave us Christian Science, the religion that heals, regenerates, and blesses all who accept it.—Benjamin F.
